Pony Penning Week

Chincoteague’s annual Pony Swim. The Chincoteague Pony Swim was made famous by Marguerite Henry’s “Misty of Chincoteague“. Tens of thousands of spectators from around the world gather on Chincoteague Island each year to watch this annual tradition.

Volunteer Fire Dept. Carnival

The Volunteer Fire Dept. Puts on a wonderful spectacle in it’s Carnival, From the best fair food like funnel cakes, fried Oreos, local flavor fries, and Oyster fritters you will love the local offerings. There is also rides for the kids (and adults if you like).

Join Main Street Merchants for Chincoteague’s popular free two-day St. Patty’s Day adventure! Visit businesses around the island during the annual Search for the Shamrocks event for clues to solve a riddle. Cross the finish line by 4:30pm Saturday to register for great prizes. Grab some friends and your green to shop, play, stay, and WIN!

Death by Chocolate

Our annual Valentines adventure of Chocolates and mysteries. Put on by our local Main St. shops you can go from business to business meeting our local shop keeps filling your bags with sweets to die for. Beebe Ranch Tours

We are open April through October for the Misty history tours, which are by appointment only.  Then participants “follow the leader” over to Beebe Ranch where Billy Beebe picks up the second part of the tour.

The Easter Decoy & Art Festival is held to celebrate the history and craft of decoy carving and where local and national decoy carvers and artists of all kinds; fine art, photography, sculpture, jewelry, stained glass, pottery, etc. exhibit and sell their work at this Chincoteague Island tradition.

Old Fashioned Christmas Parade

Visit beautiful Chincoteague Island and celebrate an annual Christmas tradition – the Chincoteague Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade!  The parade will begin at the intersection of Main Street and Maddox Boulevard, head down Main Street, and end at the old Fire House. . Keep an eye out for Santa!

The Chincoteague Seafood Festival is held the first Saturday in May to promote the seafood industry on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. The festival offers fresh, local seafood and will include exciting offerings and signature dishes from local restaurants as well as old and new Eastern Shore favorites prepared by famous festival cooks, volunteers, and professionals.

Oyster Festival

Join the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce at the 52nd Annual Chincoteague Oyster Festival! Held each year to mark the arrival of Oyster Season and promote the seafood industry that is integral to Chincoteague Island. Enjoy all you can eat seafood, live music from Island Boy (a festival favorite for over 30 years), Extravaganza Raffle, Best Space Awards, and so much more!
